FAQ

What is CBD?

CBD is an acronym for Cannabidiol (Can-a-bid-i-ol), a prominent naturally occurring class of molecules called cannabinoids found in the plant genus Cannabis Sativa L. CBD comprises up to 40% of the plant and is one of over 60 plus compounds found in cannabis. Of these compounds, CBD and THC are usually present in the highest concentrations, and are therefore the most recognized and studied. CBD is a non-psychoactive component of the plant that possesses a wide range of benefits and does not cause a high, unlike THC. Our bodies are made up of an endocannabinoid system and use cannabinoids to maintain healthy cells.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil is derived from hemp plants that have high levels of cannabidiol (CBD) while having low levels of THC. At Quality CBD, our CBD oils always have less than 0.3% THC. These extracts can then be used in paste form, or mixed with other oils such as hemp seed oil, to lower the viscosity of the extract. The cannabidiol (CBD) content of CBD oil varies tremendously, since the manufacturers use a varying assortment of hemp plants and preparation techniques. We produce CBD oil with a high concentration of CBD and containing 0.03% THC.

How is Our CBD Oil Manufactured?

Our Hemp is grown and harvested organically in Wisconsin. At Quality CBD we prefer to use oils that have been extracted using ethanol as ethanol extraction is one of the best extraction that pulls a true full spectrum of the plant. That’s why when extracting using ethanol there’s a higher yield. After the ethanol extraction it goes through an addition process called distillation that removes all unwanted fats & lipids, making the extract solely contain different Cannabinoids.

In other words using the CO2 from the air we breath to extract the beneficial molecules. We manufacture our products in-house in Madison, Wisconsin.

What is the difference between Full-Spectrum, Broad-Spectrum and Isolate?

Full spectrum CBD oil contains all 113 different cannabinoids naturally present in the hemp or cannabis plant including THC.

Broad spectrum CBD oil contains 112 different cannabinoids all the ones that are present in the hemp or cannabis plant besides THC!

Isolate is simply CBD isolated. It is only 1 cannabinoid with no other naturally occurring cannabinoids.

What is the Entourage effect?

Entourage effect the entourage effect was first mentioned in 1998 by Israeli scientists Shimon Ben-Shabat and Raphael Mechoulam. In a nutshell, the basic idea is that the cannabinoids found within the hemp plant all work together to better aid the body’s endocannabinoid system. The term “entourage effect” has been used to describe the synergistic manner in which cannabinoids and terpenes work together to produce the healing magic that cannabis/cbd is so widely recognized for.

Specifically, the entourage effect combines the ability of these various compounds that helps to neutralize and minimize the psychoactive effects of THC, which could possibly be too intense. When the separate components present in cannabis stand alone, they aren’t nearly as strong or effective as when combined together. This teamwork is greater than the sum of all the individual parts, hence the term “entourage”, which means a group of people surrounding and supporting another main individual. Fitting, right!?

What’s the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Hemp and Marijuana come from the same plant called Cannabis Sativa – but they have a different genetic profile. Industrial Hemp is always a strain of Cannabis sativa, while marijuana can be Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, or Cannabis Ruderalis. The major difference is how industrial hemp has been bred compared to a marijuana form of Cannabis sativa. Typically speaking, industrial hemp is very fibrous, with long strong stalks, and barely has any flowering buds, while a marijuana strain of Cannabis sativa will be smaller, bushier, and full of flowering buds. However, newer industrial hemp varieties in the USA are being bred to have more flowers and higher yields of cannabinoids and terpenes, such as our Wisconsin hemp we’re now using! 99% of the time marijuana has a high amount of THC and only a very low amount of CBD. Hemp, on the other hand, naturally has a very high amount of CBD in most instances, and only a trace amount of THC. Fortunately, the cannabinoid profile of hemp is ideal for people looking for benefits from cannabis without the ‘high.’ Hemp is used for making herbal supplements, food, fiber, rope, paper, bricks, oil, natural plastic, and so much more, whereas marijuana is usually used just recreationally, spiritually, and medicinally. The term cannabis oil can refer to either a marijuana or hemp derived oil, since marijuana and hemp are two different forms of cannabis. In the USA the legal definition of “industrial hemp,” per Section 7606 of the Agricultural Appropriations Act of 2014, is “INDUSTRIAL HEMP — The term ‘‘industrial hemp’’ means the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”

What is nanoprocessing?

This is a process we use to collapse the CBD molecule so that it is more bioavailable to the body and allows for more rapid absorption. This also means a smaller dosage is needed to achieve the same desired effect.

Is CBD Oil Legal?

There is no need for a prescription or medical card to purchase hemp CBD. It is a natural constituent of the high CBD hemp strains of the plant containing very low levels of THC. Having only trace amounts of THC, our hemp CBD oil is non-psychoactive and legal in all 50 states. CBD Oil/Hemp Oil and other hemp products are considered to be food-based. As such, there are currently no restrictions on the production, sale and consumption of hemp oil in the United States. CBD Oil/Hemp Oil is legal in most countries in the world as long is it contains low or in some countries untraceable concentrations of the molecule THC.

How should I store my CBD? What is the shelf life?

For the best shelf life please store in a cool dark area, this will assure there is no loss in potency. Don’t allow to sit in direct sunlight. If properly stored CBD has around a 1 year shelf life!

***Water-Soluble tinctures should be refrigerated!***

Will I fail a drug test if I take CBD?

The hemp oil in our product contains CBD which is a LEGAL cannabinoid from hemp. Our Full-Spectrum products contain minuscule amounts (parts per billion) of THC that COULD show up in a drug screen. Quality CBD cannot guarantee that you will or will not pass a drug screen due to the amount of variables. Our products contain less than .3% THC.. Drug screens vary and some can be more sensitive than others. If you have to take a drug test, it is best to use a Broad-Spectrum product with 0% THC.

What is the best method of use?

For our dietary supplements we can only recommend them for internal consumption. If you don’t like the flavor of the oil supplements, you can mix with something sweet like apple sauce or honey to cut through the flavor. Oils are to be taken sublingually and held under your tongue for 60-90 seconds before being swallowed.

Will I get high?

No. Our Hemp Extract products are all made from industrial hemp, which only has trace amounts of THC, so there is no psychoactive effect from taking our products.

What dose should I take?

We recommend starting with a 25mg dose if it’s your first time taking CBD. Start there, and adjust accordingly based on your experience!

Where can I find the 3rd party testing for your oils?

You can find all of our test results on our Lab Tests page

Where do you source your products?

We source almost all of our hemp and CBD oil from local producers and manufacturers in Wisconsin. We manufacture all of our products from raw oil or hemp at our own lab in Wisconsin.

Occasionally we have sourced CBD oil from Oregon and Colorado depending on availability / season, etc.

Is CBD good for my pets?

Although there are many products on the market designed for pets, you’ll have to talk to your pet’s vet for specific advice.
